doomed
I have a bad feeling about this. (Beware, it’s a quicktime trailer)
Last night I finished a PS2 game I’d been playing now and then for the last month. It was a long time I didn’t play anything with the intention of finishing it, but this game got me hooked almost from the beginning for three things. First, the graphics were something different, far from what we’ve been used to lately; something between simple polygonal 3D graphics and cell-shading. Second for its violent and sadistic nature, and disturbing sounds and sights. And third, because it was absolutely the WEIRDEST game I’ve ever played in my life. The highest “wtf?” count per hour ever, period.
The game is Killer 7, by Capcom.
Summer has come. Boredom has come. Special offers have come. And some of my favourite movies hit the spot. Yay.
As I promised, here’s the two pictures I took in a trip some time ago.
In case you forgot, the subject matter was shops, restaurants and the like with weird names. There ya’ go.
Went to see it on Saturday. It was between “The Island” (which is totally ripped-off by the trailer so…) and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. Since I was with a group of people, I thought Sin City was more adequate to everybody’s tastes.
Boy, was I wrong.
The movie is nothing like I was expecting. Yes, I expected a very comic-esque look and feel, but not SO much! This movie is awesome, and you ain’t seen anything like it. You can love or hate it, but nobody can deny the incredible visuals put into screen for the full length of it. The cinematography, the lightning, the editing… I smell a few Oscar(tm) here. It’s like watching a comic book moving, but at the same time it’s got its own impressive style. On the other hand, the film is as violent as it gets, the characters are interesting (though not fully developed in my opinion), and sometimes the gory stuff goes a bit over the top. At the end, you feel like it could have been a bit better, the story could be a bit less “pulp”, but oh well… at least it’s a refreshing cinema experience.
Highly recommended (but not for the faint of heart). From the six of us who went to see it, three didn’t like it. You were warned.
It’s been almost a week now, but better late than never… time to write about a spectacular event; The U2 concert, “Vertigo Tour” in Madrid, 11/08/05.
It’s not fair. Yesterday I finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and it’s really unfair that we have to wait at least two years to read the conclusion of the saga. To make things worse, J.K.Rowling wants to take a pause to better enjoy her newborn daughter. Owww, c’mon.
To sum it up, without spoiling it: It’s good. Not as good as Goblet of Fire in my opinion, but probably the second best together with Prisioner of Azkaban. I was expecting a few more revelations, though, and I thing it could’ve been a bit better in the first half, but the ending is worth it. The only thing I really disliked is that the book really leaves too many things open and prepared for HP7, which coupled with the 2 years wait ahead really makes me annoyed. The previous books obviously left the main plot unfinished, but this one leaves too many threads open…
And now… a few thoughts and opinions that you should NOT read if you’ve not read the book!!!!
ATTENTION!!! MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW THE ENDING!!!

I’ve recently watched two somewhat similar movies, in that they both develop around a serial killer. I like the genre, and it’s really a pity that so many movies get made but all repeating the same clichés and all so uninteresting. These two movies belong to this genre of thriller/horror/detectivesque action, and while none of them is “Se7en” or “Silence of the Lambs”, they clearly show what you can (and can’t) do with a limited budget. They are Suspect Zero and Saw.
