As of late, I’m thinking of opening a new website to talk about (and rant about) movies I purchase on DVD… until then, I will comment them here.
Since it was a long time I didn’t buy new movies, I went out the other day and got a couple more. Sideways and Casino. Not much to comment about them…. just a few notes about the movies themselves and not their DVD editions (for now)
Really. Please, PLEASE, watch at least the first minute or so. Just when you thought nobody could do worse than Mission: Impossible 2, you find this.

A sad beginning of year for us coke lovers, it is. Why? Well, the 24-pack of diet-coke just got over 10€ with the year change. To me it’s a psychological barrier; picking up a couple of packs and paying 20€ for it (more than 3.300 of the old Spanish pesetas) feels just wrong to me. It’s a soda! 44c€ each 33cl can. In a supermarket.
Of course I’m not stopping having it, but I think I’m going to start reducing. I think 44c€ is abusive. After all, how much does it cost to produce it after all these years? Moreover, these were about 20-25 c€ not many years ago. I can’t believe an 80% increase in price is in any way justified. I’m blaming the Euro here. But anyway…

I came to see a bit of the Dune DVD I got a few days ago, and well… I’m somewhat disappointed. With Manga Films (the distributor) for making some mistakes they unfortunately make CONSISTENTLY. And with Manga Films (the distributor), for treating me like a potential thief.
My car (a Renault Megane Coupe, 110BHP 1.6 16V) is going to be 7 years old in a few months, and I’ve been thinking about getting a new car for a long time now. I know I want a reliable car. Thus, Japanese ones are some of the top candidantes.
I liked the Honda Civic Type-R a lot (24k€ for a 200cv Honda is a steal), but whan I saw the new Honda Civic a few months ago I fell in love. I wanted one at first sight (If I had the money, that is).
Now they are advertising it on T.V. and I like it even more:
- The T.V. ad’s music is performed by Fatboy Slim (one of my favourite artists)
- The song is slash dot com (a computer geek’s daily reference)
- i-VTec engine. The best performing gasoline engine in the world.
- It’s got I-Shift for the engine I like (1.8i gasoline 140 BHP). It’s a sequential F1-style, lever based shift found in F1 cars and in the Ferrari F355 Spider, for example.
- The interior’s style is just awesome.
So, it’s been a long time I’ve been looking for a Smart or a used car but… I must confess this one makes me really excited about getting a new one. Maybe I’d better go see it one of these days… in black pearlescent… yay! I know I could get up to 5.000€ for my car, and if I got this Civic for just 15.000… I’d have a hard time saying ‘No’.
Oh, well. I’m just REALLY bad at saying ‘No’.
Update: I saw one parked in the street last Saturday, in the same color I like it (pearlescent black). And I definetly love it.
A bit late on updating… but wtf.
Christmas is gone, but I’ve been on vacation and I’ve had some time for gaming. Not much, actually but… I’ve been able to play two of the supposedly best games of 2005.
It was a long time I didn’t buy any DVD stuff. I’ve been holding back for a month or so since Christmas was here and there were many potential gifts, but once Christmas is gone and I’ve only got one of my DVD wishes given as a present (The Party, awesome, awesome movie) today I went shopping to El Corte Ingles to use that 35% off offer they’ve got and pick up a few gifts for myself. Actually all I wanted was Dune but I ended up with a few more purchaes…
Sometimes Friday comes and instead of going out, freezing, and end up smelling like you use eau d’ tabac, some better options arise.
Sometimes you just prepare a dinner based upon high quality iberian ham (et al.), duck foie gras and just-baked bread, together with a bottle of Ribera de Duero wine I got as a present last year from Gourmet Class (a delicatessen store in Alcalá de Henares wich is worth a visit, I must say). I got to use a somewhat-hi-tech corkscrew I got as a present this christmas and the decantator I save for special occasions. Add some big wine cups and you’re golden.
And boy, what a wine. Not that it’s top class, but definetly above average.
Add to that a nonsensical movie (Mr. and Mrs. Smith), some blog updating and a Havana 7 in a globe cup and… it doesn’t get any better than this. Yay.
