It arrived today. Oh, so much fun. Brings me great memories of the time I spent in the states in ’91 and ’92 and the people I met there, John and Jo-Anne…
The books are impressively finished and the cartoons… oh well.
Now I’ve got 4000+ cartoons to enjoy. Yay!
Update: I’ve just found this AWESOME site dedicated to real-life Gary Larson cartoons. Take a peek, they’re really worth it.
I must say that I had already thought that something like this should exist, that it was feasible and that the technology was there. But it seems Volkswagen got it done first.
Behold.
Where could I put them? In the sofa? Over the bed?

Maybe with a blanket with the Pac-Man labyrinth…
I want one of these!!

No, no Photoshop. It really levitates!!! (Magnetically but oh, well)

I am between angry and happy. Why, you ask? Well, I’m angry because I recently discovered that all iPods sold in the EU are volume-capped to 100dB (to meet EU requierements), while those sold outside the EU are uncapped and able to produce up to 115dB. I like loud music and one of the things I immediatly noticed from my 5G iPod was that it was far inferior in output level to my venerable Creative MuVo NX 256Mb. And it sounded worse, too, with some terrible bass clipping in almost any EQ setting. Since I like to listen to house and trance music this was a true disappointment from a 400€ piece of audio gear.
But… now I’m happy because at the same time I’ve discovered the way to uncap my iPod. And not only the volume limit has gone… the distortion has gone too!! That is… Apple seemed to be capping iPods and at the same time introducing distortion with the cap. Once you remove the cap, you remove distortion. As ridiculous as it sounds, I’ve been able to check it and It’s true; now I can play house and trance music with any EQ setting and get no distortion. Go figure.
So, if you’re an iPod owner, go here and begin enjoying your iPod at its full potential. Yes, I’ve tried it and it works. You’re welcome.
Oh… regarding my previous post. Did I say watches? Did I say geeky watches? Did I say Seiko?
Well… here it is.

e-ink based Seiko Watch. Doesn’t get any better than this.

I think watches are one of the most geeky things you can imagine. They measure time. They have buttons. They sometimes do a lot of things, and in a minuscule space. And what’s even beetter, a few of them look super-geeky. I love them, and I’d love to have quite a bunch and wear them depending on the mood or the rest of my clothes.
I recently got a sweet Sandoz watch for Christmas. Huge stainless steel cage; simple yet attractive. Lovely.
So, when Gizmodo linked an article today about geeky watches I had to drool a bit. Man I’d love to have the Fossil, Vestal and the Tag Heuer ones from the list. Yay.

I think I’ll get at least a Philippe Starck Fossil watch one of these days. They’re not even too expensive, either. And someday, a Seiko Kinetic…
BTW, my birthday is coming up close <hint><hint>.
the vision…

Definetly, I’ve got a letter to write for 2007. Dear Santa…
