What a cool toy.

And it’s just the very basic model that you can do with this set… I wish this things had existed when I was a kid.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I don’t feel like blogging too much lately… not only my attention’s been drawn away continuously, but I made the mistake again and reinstalled Alpha Centauri to have just one fix. Which means hours of procrastination. And if that was not enough I was lent a Lego Mindstorms NXT. Oh, well.

Anyway… I didn’t blog about my sixth motorbike class because I ended up utterly disappointed. I spent one hour trying to pass the F***ING ramp (a 6-meter long and 20-cm wide above-the-ground metal strip you’ve got to drive through without falling) and was unable to learn a technique to do it at all. Slower, faster, accelerating, not accelerating, trying several attack angles… to no avail. I went away pretty depressed, thinking it was gonna cost me a fortune to learn the thing (if ever).

So, since last week was raining all the time, I decided to give myself a rest, and ten days later I took my seventh class. And magically everything started going ok. I was passing the ramp 6 or 7 out of every 10 tries. The teacher taught me the final circuit exercice (accelerating, using 2nd gear and emergency braking) and I started doing the full circuit. And I did it, completing it successfully maybe 6 out of 8 tries.

The teacher suggested that I did the exam on November 2nd… but now I want to take it slowly, so I’m appointing for November 14th and I will take another two classes just to make sure I can do it with a nice bit of chance of success.

So, November 14th… here I go. Vroom!

Last night I was going to play a couple songs in Guitar Hero when I discovered that my Playstation 2 had eaten my saved game… and all my progress was gone. It said the data on the memory card was corrupt and that it had to be overwritten.

All the unlocked songs, characters, videos, guitars… everything.

Stupid proprietary un-backupable memory cards…

Well, I guess it’s time to start training for November 9th anyway…

As much as I despise this kind of “spread the questionnaire” games (that often are incorrectly, in my opinion, referred to as “memes“), I’m gonna answer this one since I’ve been asked to by someone I do appreciate.

Many questions unanswered (due to the fact that I like to keep private information as private as I want) and others not very ellaborated, but that’s what I want to answer; take it or leave it.

Make mental note: Things are not always as “under control” as you think.

Last night, at last, I had the chance to see the first episode of Lost, season three (3×01 from now on). It was aired in the U.S. on wednesday night.

Compared to the first episode of season two (2×01), this one’s been a lot less relieving; but it’s very difficult to make season starts much more intense than 2×01 and 2×02, so it comes at no surprise. Anyway, episode 3×01 was very good, and to all Lost fans out there; you’re going get SO high about the first five minutes… ;) fortunately, this year there’s gonna be no chaotic episode schedule just like last year; this year we can expect an episode every week, then a thirteen week hiatus (that’s gonna hurt), then the rest of the episodes once a week too.

Apart from that, and to compensate the lack of Lost in the interim between seasons, now I’ve got a couple more TV shows to follow weekly.

I’ve taken two more lessons and I begin to feel the instructor is going too slow with me. I think I can already do all the stunts that you’re supposed to do in the exam, but I haven’t had the chance. That, and the fact that the money each lesson costs is starting to hurt.

I’ve got another appointment on Monday evening… I hope I don’t need much more than that. First tentative examination date: October 26th.
